I went to check out a new hotel today in West Hollywood called Palihouse. This West Hollywood property is one of three Palihouses scheduled to open in Los Angeles over the next couple of years. The unique twist on Palihouse is that is a boutique hotel which caters to guests looking for long term stays. Think of it as The Residence Inn for the five star set. The property features 36 studio, one and two bed-room suites, all of which incude full kitchens as well as a washer dryer. From the street, the place is completely understated and upon walking in, one could be fooled into thinking you might be in the wrong place! There is no reception, but rather a small desk which is flanked by dark bookshelves.
I would describe the overall interior design as Parisian bistro meets contemporary classic. It is modern but incredibly warm and inviting. The minimum night stay at Palihouse is three days but the longer you stay, the more your stay is subject to discounted rates. Palihouse is not a place I would recommend if you are a needy traveller and wish for constant pampering but if you are looking for a place with a stylish boutique feel that caters to extended -stay travel, this is an excellent choice. It scores points for location as well as W. Hollywood is smack dab in the middle of Los Angeles making it easy to take in all the great things the city has to offer. 2009 sees the opening of Palihouse Vine in Hollywood and in 2010, Palihouse will bring its brand of extended-stay chic to Venice Beach.
